my first game that was played by anyone but me was done in QBasic back in 91''. I was a Data Systems Technician stationed on Mare Island in California. I made a Text RPG using people and places unique to the base.. it ended up becoming a cult classic on the base.. ''twas quite fun to make..
No More Clones!
Stop The Madness!
What was your first game?
I haven''t made any games that someone else has actually played.
It really depends on how you define first game
The first game that I ever created (That I can remember off the top of my head) was this really stupid game called Dragon or something like that. Bascially, there was this dragon in the middle of the screen that fired at you and automatically hit you once every 3 seconds or something like that, and always took 20 health. You had 100 health. Also, you had to use the mouse and click and hold on the dragon and fire your gun at the dragon. It was basically a test of how fast you could click on the dragon. There were also a few buttons that you could click on. One was some kinda mission briefing where this rude sergeant yelled at you. Another one was quit. I can''t remember the last. Finally, if you beat the dragon, the Sergeant took all the credit for beating the dragon and you got nothing
Even before that, I made some simple text thingys and balls moving across the screena and junk like that, but that was probally the first game.
I guess that would be my first game, considering it had all the elements of a game, but my first C++/DirectX game was this sorta space invaders clone where you fired at some ships and stuff. It sucked too. There was only one enemy, I never implemented highscores all the way, there were no animations, and the structure of my code was so horrible it would send you guys into fits. Oh well, that''s the story of my life.

I played this game called lemonade stand on an old apple and loved it, so when I had enough QBasic skills under my belt I went to work on it. It was the first fully functional game I'd made. Like most of you, I had a lot of incomplete games, intro screens, and text-based rpg's that went nowhere, but had cool ascii graphics.
My lemonade stand was funny because I didn't know how to round off decimal places which made it possible to have $10.09891981. I made lemonade stand again for windows in VBasic, and it's pretty fun ... has a few bugs in the high score code and stuff, but it's pretty cool. I thought that I had something really awesome when I finished the windows version, but I was bummed out when I found out that there are about a million versions of Lemonade Stand written in java and html on the net. I still say that my game is superior to the other one's I've seen.
Revisit those old games,

As an officially very sad individual, my first - well, my first several games - were lovely text adventures written in MS BBC basic on the commodore 64. They all shared one feature, the complete lack of any cohesive plot
. Still, they were fun.
