Commercial Massive Multiplayer Engine?
I know NetZ (http://www.proksim.com/) but the problem is that it''s NOT a "massive" multiplayer game engine and could only handle up to 10 or 12 people play at the same time. Does anyone know of any open source or commercial product that could provide "massive multiplayer" game engine (I''m talking about maybe up to 50,000 people connecting to the Net at the same time). Any information will be highly appreciated. Thanks!
Thanks for your help, my dear friends!

Hi,
I replied to your post in the Multiplayer forum, but this one was a little different and I felt I had to reply. There are _no_ MMORPG engines in existance right now that can handle anywhere near what your asking for. The two biggest MMORPG systems out right now (Asheron''s Call and Everquet) can only nadle 2000 - 3000 people per server. They just keep setting up more servers as demand increases, each one with a seperate copy of the game world. To my knowledge, even the upcomming MMORPGs like Ultima Online 2 can''t handle anywhere near 50,000 people at a time. If a developement house managed to write a server like that, then they''d be making a game with it themselve rather than selling the engine to people. If you want that kind of power, then your gonna have to write the engine yourself.

DM's Rules:Rule #1: The DM is always right.Rule #2: If the DM is wrong, see rule #1.
Actually even for 2000 people they setup world clusters using several servers.
they cleaned-up dirext play with the new dx8 release so that it doesn't suck anymore. They claim it can be used for MMOG's
