Survey: Best Game Music
What was the best game musical score in your opinion. Give some reasons. Any genre...
My personal favorite was Total Annihilation. That was an incredible sound track. It was really the first RTS that used hard core symphony music from my best knowledge. Really made it feel like you were playing a movie...

I''m going to go old skool and say F-Zero for SNES.
This was awesome sound for its time. It was the first game I played that really used stereo separation well. I''ll never forget those tunes.
Also horoable mention goes to Rare. How do those guys make such killer music on cart based systems?

Blaster Master, 8-bit NES, especially the later levels. This music was so good that now, 10 years later, I''m currently in the process of trying to capture each level''s music and make a Blaster Master CD.
Runner up: Metroid, 8-bit NES.

I''d have to agree EnochDagor, my personal favorite game music would have to be Total Annihilation.

The best? Hard to say. The Baldur''s Gate series was good, also I''m reminded of that old game Betrayal at Krondor. It used CD tracks for the music - before they could do good digital output in the days of the old soundblaster 8-bit. Really great fantasy score on that one. I also liked the music from the old PC version of Battle Chess, also used CD tracks - mostly classical. And yes, TA: Kingdoms was good.

Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
Never anger a dragon, for you are crunchy and you go well with brie.
All Hubbard''s songs on the C=64 (expecially "Monty On The Run"). Also "Turrican" by Vaca - Huelsbeck - Hartwig and "Turbo Outrun" by Tel (always on the C=64).
Yes, I love the SID... :-)

Let´s continue to evaluate the C=64...
I don´t think I´ll ever forget the music from Last Ninja,
but the Ocean loader (by Martin Galway) must be the best, it´s a masterpiece...

the best musical score in a game ever, CHRONO TRIGGER. that game hit more than one nerve with most of its tracks. schala''s theme was really mystical as was the magic kingdom of zeal. and i think a lot of us can enjoy frogs music. I also liked the music to final fantasy 7 and 8 as well as some from star ocean. I agree that f-zero had a good sound track and so did its north american sequal, f-zero X. over all, the final fantasy series has had good music and recently, legend of mana has taken the cake for me.
