Original post by jake2431 I like those sprites alot Anna. They sort of remind me of Golden Sun. Are they animated yet? I'd like to see them in action.
I haven't started animating this set yet, I'm still going to be making changes and improving the designs. I have some old sprites from a few years ago that have walking animations but they're ugly so I won't post them :P
Here is a 16*16 sprite I did when I was first learning pixel art in like December. It is the size of old SNES RPG's like FFI and FFII. I found this and decided to post it because I would like this thread to stay around. It's nice to have a thread like this on the gamedev forums.
Edit: Here it is at 2X so you can see it better Gyrthok

It is rather nice to have a thread like this around. That sprite of your is about the size of the RTS units i made (i blew them up so they would be more noticable, so i wouldn't have to squint). He seems to have a good amount of detail to him, and smooth animation. :D
Those are great sprites there Anna, reminds me alot of CronoTrigger and FF6. From looking at them i can tell the atmosphere for your projects going to be pretty cool. ;D
Those are some nice images. You say you are doing a game in flash for school. A friend of mine and I also did a game in flash for a final project at school my first semester. It looks like you used bitmap instead of vector art for the project. Thats cool to me also alot of our game was bitmap, but we did some vector art. I personally like pixels better than math equations myself. Anyways your art looks cool, if you want to check out the game we did you can actually find it at newgrounds.com under the name "The Greatest Adventure". The graphics aren't much to look at and we borrowed some from other games because we didn't have time to do our own, but it was just a prototype and we weren't supposed to be to worried about graphics. Good luck with the game.
Looks like a much more detailed game than mine. I'm hoping to try it out soon, but the school computers crash all over newgrounds.com so I'm waiting until I have some free time at home. Anyway, my game is extremely simple. Basically it involves a chicken who drops bombs on turtles. You control his wings via the up and down keys and drop bombs with spacebar. Not much of a story to it, but it was meant to emulate classic games of the 8/16-bit era as an essay, so it talks about the history of video games during the score screens between each scene. It'll be done in about a week.
Yeah, your graphics actually remind me of the old NES games. You may have trouble running our game on any computer because as it turns out; flash is rather slow when it comes to games of that size. We have however figured out ways to make it faster. It was just after the game was finished. Nothing wrong with simple games though. They make some of the most addictive. Good luck with your game; I would like to play it when you are done if you put the swf online. Maybe newgrounds ;). I love that website for flash content. Plus if I play it maybe I will learn alittle history that I didn't know.
Hey that looks pretty good. Your interiors kind of remind me of FFVI, not sure what your exterior reminds me of (maybe an old Robin Hood game), but it looks cool. I like it.
