How about we let NeHe or Evil decide which of these are appropriate, to narrow down the list a little... Then we could have a democratic vote.

It seems to me if you flip through all the pages city seems to have a majority.

It would seem so but most people probally didnt read the whole thread. Maybe we could email NeHe about putting a poll on his site with all the themes suggested on this thread?

How about an "Independence Day" (Will Smith) - aliens take over the world theme? Since judging probably won't be complete until June of 2005.

what's a preditor?

I don't think we should have such a specific theme, face it, about half of the enteries still won't folow the theme to the point.

I too think a city theme is a good theme, but it's not my preference if i had to choose.
I mean, shure, it's an ok theme, but the question is, how many of the enteries will just have a model with a couple of city textured boxes in it on a flat plane and a camera that folows a strict path trough it? How many of you have the l33t modeling skillz to model a reasonably "realistic" building?

Right, but doesn't this apply to *any* theme ? I don't think the problem is specific to the city contest.

all this talk of theme's is all very good, but what about the newbie's to nehe and the comunity, wont they feel left out or even totaly intimidated by all of this. gotta give people like me a chance to have a go as well :) (and get laughed at for total rubbish (first time out in 3d stuffs) :D)

No one laughs except the ones who think they are the best and could have done blah blah blah better while they won't even have coded one complete demo. - most appreciate the hard work even if it turned out to be as you like to put it "total rubbish."
