DirectPlay Sample Fails with IPX?

A question regarding the SimplePeer (and its older version, SimpleConnect) sample applications under DX9: I have a suite of 10 networked CPUs running DX9.0b. When I run the DX7-vintage SimpleConnect application on these DX9 machines and use IPX as the service provider, only 7 of the 10 machines can join the game (it doesn't matter which 7)...the "Join Game" attempt fails for any machine that attempts to join thereafter. If I use TCP/IP with SimpleConnect, the 7-machine "brick wall" disappears. On the other hand, if I use DX9's SimplePeer application (the equivalent of DX7's SimpleConnect) and IPX, the "brick wall" does not appear either. Can anyone explain what's causing the 7-machine limit under SimpleConnect with IPX? This behavior has been reproducable on several different sets of CPUs. Regards, Brian Perry
