Generating synthetic sounds
I''m not sure if I should put this here or in the programming section, but I thought I''d give you guys a try first:
I''m doing a project in my "Math and Music" course on generating synthetic sounds, and I''d like to make a quick program where you can set at the very least the frequency and amplitude of a sin wave and have it play (though ideally I''d like it so the user can input a mathematical formula to get a nice sound). Are there any libraries you guys know of that might be helpful for this project? I can generate and store the sound wave in an array (it will be a mono, lq sound) but I''m not sure how to get it to actually sound. Any ideas? Thanks a lot guys.

Can''t say it really belongs on GameDEv in fact.
You could try out http://www.musicdsp.org . This site contains a lot more in that line of things. It contains quite a bit of information on generating sound in general.

Have you checked out CSound?
I don''t know much about it, but it is a program for algorithmic generation of audio.
