Here''s achance for people to practice there design skills, rather then trying to improve someone elses game try comming up with your own based around the following restrictions. Then rate other peoples based, on orginality, interest, gameplay, replayablitly. Game restrictions: Interface: - 2 button Mouse. - maxium of 4 mapped keys. Gameplay requirments: - Game must take only 60 minutes of gameplay to complete. - must have a clear begining and end. - must of a plot of some kind. - must have a back story. - limit of 24 units/characters/enimies/buildings/objects - limit of 12 items/power ups/weapons/levels - limit of 7 abilites/powers/skills/special attacks - game should take place entirly in a single location or level. Restrictions: - use only orignal material, ideas and characters. Well lets see what people can do working within this framework. Its all pretty general but lets see what you can do. ----------------------------------------------------- Writer, Programer, Cook, I''m a Jack of all Trades Current Design project Chaos Factor Design Document
ARRGGG!!! I was posting here but I had electricity problems!! seems that what I was writting somehow got in gamedev.. if you saw what I was writting I was doing the exercise and heck thinking all the stuff took long and after that, I reviewed the rules and noticed that I can't have levels!! So i had to change the levels into goals in just one world.

I took like 3 hours writing this but I went to sleep and kept saved the thing in my comp to have a back up.. well seems like i need it now.. I will post my poorly written complete design in a few hours.

Background, A virus is taking over the computer, your the only non effected file left in the computer, your job is to remain as close to the CPU as possible while remaining un-infected.

The game would be controlled like Diablo, your weapons will be gun like objects that will kill the virus''s or slow them down.

If you can avoid the virus''s attacks long enough the Virus Checker installed on the machine will start and you will have won.

I know its not very detailed but it just popped into my head..

Hey Techno, I don''t mean to be rude, but I have a couple of questions....

Couldn''t "freeze" be the reverse of "fireball"?

If you can only cast a spell once, why would you need to carry 21 spells? If there are only 7, and you''d only use each one once, then wouldn''t you only need to carry the 7? Or maybe that is once per puzzle?

Great idea, though! What kind of puzzles did you have in mind? I''m thinking like using "darkness" (reverse of illuminate) to sneak past a group of enemies, puzzles like that? Lots of possiblities!

well I was thinking that the reverse of fireball would be douse. While the reverse of freeze would be heat or melt.

As far as the 21 spell you may need more then 1 of each spell. Since each spell can only be cast once then its used up. So if you need to cast Growth twice you would need to growth spells. If you only brought one, then you''d need to find another way past the obstacle or find another way around.

and ya there could be all kinds of possiblites for puzzles espcaily more elborate ones invloing using varius obstacles and spells to overcome another obstacle.
For instance:
darkness could be used to sneak by an enemy.
or lure used to get two enemies to fight each other.

as an example of the top of my head.

Bloody hell... You know, that game would make for a ball of a small multiplayer game o.o Say, four people. Level is generated. People are only told the amount of each obstacles (so they know that, for example, there are a lot of icewalls). Then each player is dumped at the start, and they have to compete to see who finds the best way... Need help making it? ^-^
Ya it would defintly be fun multiplayer. The 4 players each with a diffrent start location trying to get to the centre as well as being able to hinder each other along the way.

Hmm, I''m a little surpised though I though more people who have ideas to game ideas to express. but oh well...
