Also I liked Battle Zone, but it couldn't beat that girl-game.

GR! I couldn''t see this topic without entering! Of Course the RPG ''s are the best ones! Breath of Fire III, Final Fantasy VII, THousand Arms, and so forth!!!!! Anyway, I''ve never played this Monkey Island. Is it really cool? Is it free on the net?

Thanks, Arthur(rockslave)

For offering something genuinely innovative-

Ultima Underworld (1+2)
System Shock (1+2)
Thief (1+2) (can you tell I''m a looking glass fan?)
Outcast

for it''s perfection-

Grand Prix Legends

for gameplay perfection-

Doom and Doom 2
Half-life

for not having saves-

Alien versus predator (pc)

Of course as for the best ten games ever written, I haven''t started writing them yet.

I liked Pirates Gold, but it was too fast on my 486 33 :-(, The orignal Pirates on C64 got tons of playing time though.
Another game that I thought was awesome was F117a Stealth Fighter. It was also the first on PC game I saw that looked like it could compete with the consoles. As for the best game ever, I would have to give it to Doom because no other game could ever compete with it. Multiplayer, single player, and infinite expansion via WADs ;-)
Other Games that deserve praise:
Heroes Of Might and Magic 3 (HOMM 3) (Even though HOMM 2 caused me to miss a couple reports)
Starcraft
Day of The Tentacle (Lucas Arts ruled the Adventure Genre.)
Maniac Mansion (which is actually built into DOTT ;-) )
Diablo
Jagged Alliance 2
Monkey Island Series
oh, and Bruce Lee Lives (old C64 game)

The FF series is good, but have you ever played the Phantasy Star series on Genesis????

AWESOME!!!

Also the D&D Land of the Eternal Sun(I think that''s right), also for Genesis.
Those were great. Ultima UnderworldI & II on the PC were great.

Hello? How come no one has mentioned Privateer yet? It''s the best game of its kind, ever. The only reason i don''t play it anymore is because it is nearly impossible to get working on a modern system. Priv2 was good, but didn''t have the trading depth of the original. Freelancer will kick ass, big time.

Also Half-Life(mods included), System Shock2, Theif 1&2, the Monkey Island games, AOE 1&2, Pirates!(13 years old and still fun) and Alpha Centauri for the PC, and MGS, Perfect Dark, and Ocarina of Time on consoles. Isn''t strange how the same games keep coming up over and over again? I guess the best are the best.
Super Mario Kart (SNES)
Super Bomberman (SNES)
Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
Star Wars Rogue Squadron (N64)

And damn it, I think SNES has been massively under-represented here thus far!
