That was the whole point of my question. You see I KNOW that Fox have already screwed one company for $300,000 for using an alien in their game without permission. Fox makes money from selling Alien(s) games, figures, videos and the courts tend to view it that if you give away for free something that a) does not belong to you, and b) makes money for the comapny that does own it - then you are likely to damage their business by reducing the percieved value of their property.

All it takes is one games web site to find out about you game and do a feature on it with some nice screen shots (they will think they are doing you a favour). Next thing you know the Fox lawyers will be knocking on your door.

Copyright laws can be and often are enforced internationally.

We're trying to warn you for your own benefit. Unless you have actually spoken to FOX and come to a legally binding licensing agreement (whereby you pay them or provide them with a service in return for using their copyrighted material) you are in breach of copyright and they are entitled to sue you. And as both myself and Obscure have pointed out, they have sued hobbyist developers and modders before for breaching the Aliens copyright.

So, in summary, continue using the Aliens universe at your own risk.

Woah, this is weird, I just watched Aliens on TV last night!
Anyway, I don''t have a very fast computer but I thought I''d download it anyway, and you know what? It was actually playable, about 10fps on my 500mhz K6III w/ 16mb voodoo banshee. So it was a little slow, but isn''t everything on my computer. Nice work, and don''t worry, I won''t tell FOX. Only complaint, and maybe it''s just my computer, but that is like the slowest firing FN-P90 I''ve ever seen , good job though.

uhh wth? 4 fps, geforce4 ti4200, p4 2.2ghz, 768 megs of ram.... wth is this thing supposed to run on? its only 2d?!?

Whenever I try to start a new game the screen goes blank, I still hear music, and the game is still running, but there is no picture.

I have ATI Radeon 8500 128MB

Borek, you might want to consider generating new art to have a better chance at avoiding fox''s lawyers. That is, after you''ve optimized your engine.
