Looking at games from another angle

After getting some insight in games programming and 3D API fiddling I find my self looking at games from a new perspective. When I play a game nowadays, I often go "How did they implement that?" or "I bet they did that feature this way". "Wow I would really like to get my hands on that particle system". "I bet that code is messy!" Is it just me? THe same thoughts come up when I watch movies today! It kinda kills the fun.. Anyway, some thoughts I couldn''t fit into any other forum

I''m like you but it don''t kill the fun in good games: it gives another fun, the fun to be admirative watching something you hadn''t think about.
With the game fun , it makes two fun factors.

But when the game is bad, you only it could happen that you only see technical things and That is boring.

I think.

I agree, especially with regards to films.

On a kinda similar note, don''t you just hate it in films when they do stuff like...

c:\hack mainframe

and then all these 3d cubes and shit start spinning round while they look intense and batter the keyboard looking for a ''way in''. *cough* Swordfish *cough*. I realy hate that.

WOW u r so different.
m_wherrett: yah, that pisses me off too.

I often find myself asking questions about "how''s that done?" but it doesn''t kill the fun for me. If a movie is truly good though my mind will be engrossed enough that it doesn''t wander off into thinking about how an effect was implemented.

i agree with 3dcgi, but after the movie i always find myself thinking about how i can turn that into a game or demo... the same with books.

Yeah I concur, there are plenty o'' films that sucks you in
But think about the non-programming people that play games, having NO clue whatsoever how it''s done! And most of them aren''t even a little bit curious! I guess I was one of the curious people hehe..

yeah, and when I am having two kinds of fun, the cab fare is usually twice as much in the morning.
