I´m really new to 3dsmax so don´t kill me for this one. How do I apply a material/texture to only one face of an object. Now it applies it to the entire object. Any help appreciated.

There are a couple ways of achieving this depending on exactly what you are doing. The best way of doing this within 3D Studio Max (ie. this method may or may not work if you are going to export the model to use in a game) is with Material IDs and a Sub-Object material. Quick explanation:

In the Material Editor create a Multi/Sub-object material type. Apply this multi material to the object.

Go into "Polygon" Sub-Object mode and select the polygons you want to apply a separate material to. Change the Material ID to the number of the material you want applied.

Thanks man!
One more thing. When I´ve assigned materials to the object, how do I adjust them seperatly? I´ve tried to add an UVW mapping thingy and it works editing one face, but when I try to choose the other face to map it gets kinda screwed up.

You should try the help files and tutorials that come with max. These are all very basic.

What you do is select the faces you want to map, apply uvmap. If you want to adjust the mapping, selected the faces you want to adjust and apply an uv unwrap.

yeah... and once you have applied uv mapping to one face... or section... make sure you right click on the modifier stack and Collapse stack before starting to map a new section....
