I've got a gun pointed at my computer, give me a reason to stop
Well I had got some advice from deanmat a bit back on using ''CoCreateInstance'' instead of ''DirectInputCreateEx'' to avoid linker errors. And he/she was right, but I got runtime errors instead. ''Access Violation'' to be specific. Now I have included in my project all of the .lib files associated with the Direct X stuff I''m using in my code. Should I contact Interprise about this or what.

I was trying to create a direct draw object, but I can''t use the ''DirectDrawCreateEx'' function to do it.

Oh god, it was that stupid «/a» thing that was screwing me over. I''ve been including my links at the bottom of my posts because of it.
Cmon'' guys I really need help, not HTML lessons!

It''s imperative that u use DirectDrawCreateEx. Many thing (D3D, for instance), will not work unless certain things it does are done. Make sure you''re including dxguid.lib and ddraw.lib if you''re getting linker errors, and make sure your sdk directory is set for the search directory

SeanHowe,
I have borland Builder 5, and I could not find dxguid.lib in my sdk lib files. So I went to my college and copied dxguid.lib from Microsoft visual studio. Since I have borland I had a feeling it wasn''t going to work but right now I would try anything. It made sence to me to include the dx''guid''.lib, but either borland didn''t include it with my kit, or it is named something else.

What you need to do is actually get a full copy of the SDK. It should be available from Microsoft''s web site, though whether you can get just the libraries and stuff I have no idea. The full download is somewhere in the range of 90-100 megs. Icky on a modem
Just out of curiousity though, what were the linker errors you''re getting? Or is that already posted somewhere. Must look.
