research project: fractal terrain
Anybody have any ideas/thoughts/programs/links to do with modelling truly realistic terrain using fractals techniques? Time efficiency is of no concern.

So, I wrote a demo awhile back and posted the write-up at http://www.shiftyeye.com/ajs/mountains.html
Sadly, I never posted the code... though it was hardly in a postable state, but I tried to explain the process clearly, and it should be fairly straightforward to implement the math.
