According to you what is the best resolution to make a 2D game? And the dimension of the tiles? (in pixel) THX
640x480 resolution - 32x32 tiles.
But it''s just a personal preference.

THX
always powers of 2, the bigger the better (the bigger the less tile edges you see, the easier it is to conceal the edges and put in special tiles).
What is the best (or mostly used) resolution in Windows 32bit system?

Do you thing 256 color or more?
With screens getting bigger all the time 800x600 gives a better 2d look. A least 16bit - it takes special art skills I think to handle 256 colours over a large set of art.

Yup 800x600x16 is a lot nicer than anything below that...

1024x768 is also pretty standard nowadays, it is my favourite screen mode all the way.
Really depends on what size monitor you are going for. Personally, I would prefer to run on a television - 640x480 would be fine for that.

As for tile sizes, it really depends on what you are drawing. Different parallax layers could have different sizes (e.g. cloud layer have larger tiles than the ground with lots of repeating detail).
