Noncubic 3D splines

Does anybody know code/references on splines other than the standard vubic splines? I need some kind of animation curves that goes through the keypoints but are less affected by neighbouring points than cubic. Quadratic splines perhaps? They don''t have to be C2, C1 is enough for my purposes. / Bucko aka Backman

You might look into splines with variable tension. The tension term can be used to affect the degree to which neighboring points affect a given point.

I did a quick-and-dirty search on google for "spline with tension." Got lots of links. Here is one of them:

The "Akima" interpolant produces nice-looking splines that do go through the keypoints. Again, google gives lots of links. Here is one that links to code:
