That doesn''t make them Hungarian. That means that they were going to be Hungarian, but aren''t anymore.

Of course it means they''re Hungarian. By the time the change was made, all the sprites had been drawn already. The pictures were drawn by artists who were told "make hungarian guys". Just because they were hastily renamed doesn''t strip them of their nationality and culture. In days gone by, immigrants coming to Ellis Island were often forced to change their names to fit American pronunciation and spelling... did that too strip them of their nationality?

Don''t listen to me. I''ve had too much coffee.
I beat mario brothers for my gbc 2 times. Just can''t get sick of that game

And so, the evil religion thread stole the wonderful "What the Heck?" thread's throne. Truly a sad day for gamedev.

1. Mario and Luigi are video game characters, not real people. The story behind them has changed to make them Italian.

2. Being half Italian, I can safely say that Mario and Luigi look very much Italian.
Well, Max Payne is Finnish. Not just because the game was made in Finland, but you could easily see that he''s a finnish guy from the look on of his face.

So Finns are always grimacing and don''t move their lips when talking?

The castle in Super Mario Brothers was actually modeled after a real castle from the Ottoman Empire, with the motto "insili in contum mei".

Man, I want to have a castle like that. It would be awesome to live in one because in the center of it I would put the ultimate Kung-Foo fighting ring and watch Kung-Foo fighting every night. My bedroom would be on the second floor and would have the ultimate arcade area. On the 3rd floor would be the kitchen with my personal chef who would prepare the best vegatarian meals ever. Too bad I don''t live in Turkey, not that I would want too but I would certainly enjoy that castle.

umm... the princess was called Princess Toadstool until Mario 64 (I think) when she actually got a name, she''s now known as Princess Peach.

That''s my little tit-bit of info =)
