AI In MMOGames.

Hello, I am working through the design for providing quality AI on a MMO Type game. My idea is to take the AI load off of the "World" Server and connect the AI much in the same fashion the Player Clients are connected, via the network. Most likely a different network protocal since the AI characters will need more information then the players to act correctly. Now this may take off CPU load for controling the AI, I still need information as to increase in Network loading, I might have to only allow special characters to be controled by seperate systems and typical characters to be controled in a traditional manner. Does anyone know if any existing games take this approach or has anyone looked into this approach? Thanks --
