Hello Everybody: Well, after the big GDC rush it took me a while to get back "in the groove", but I''ve finally made some updates to the Game AI Page. First up, there''s a new Game AI Poll on the page. The topic this month, suggested by somebody at one of my AI roundtables at GDC this year, is "What game genre most *needs* better AI?". Drop by and weigh in with your opinion. Secondly, my moderator''s notes from the AI roundtables I conducted are also online. Miller Freeman will eventually get around to publishing them on www.gdconf.com and/or www.gamasutra.com, but you can read them now on my site if you''d like. They include notes from my first two sessions plus notes from our last day "AI for Dummies" session, hosted by Neil Kirby, Eric Dybsand, and my humble self. Finally, you may have heard of the Annual AI Programmer''s Dinner...it''s a little thing Neil, Eric, and I started back for GDC ''98 that has just kept growing. Every year, on the last night of GDC, we have a little dinner party for AI developers who''ve attended the conference. You can see pictures from THIS year''s dinner (31+ attendees) at the site if you''re interested. Drop by and see what a true "gathering of geeks" looks like. (Hint: Geoff was there! Address for all this fun is below. Enjoy, and let me know what else you''d like to see on the page! -- Steven Woodcock From the High Mountains of Colorado http://www.gameai.com

In reading reviews in a lot of computer magazine half the time they talk about (uninformatively) the lousy AI. Maybe you can post the problems that are spotted in those games.
A sort of Good AI/Bad AI/Good-Enuf AI sort of features list for the different games or genres.

I believe there is already a section on the Game AI site listing a load of ''notable'' games, with comments on what they succeeded or failed in doing.
Yeah, there is, but that''s an interesting thought nonetheless. The main problem I see is that often it''s a matter of opinion over how successful a given game''s AI is....not sure how to get around that.

Merely just list all the comments about an AI. You really can''t have an AI system that handles everything so it''s a matter of trade-offs between one feature and another. Also some games or even genres of games have large gaps in AI. Just listing them will give a game designer a set of features to avoid or to be aware of.
