So, I'm six weeks into development of Parallax Zoom and yesterday sucked!
The game is based on my custom infinite parallax scrolling method written in C++ with SDL2 libraries - but like a novice catwalk model it could only turn right!
Attempting to exit off the left of the map caused a major meltdown, with the image template bending and stretching as though being consumed by a black hole.
Oh - and did I mention the NPC alien antagonists popping into the visible window as if through a worm hole?
All of this would be fitting for a space based Arcade / RTS game - except my space based Arcade / RTS game does not have holes! black / worm or otherwise!
After a restless sleep I went back to the code this morning and fixed all of the bugs, and then started this blog and the Parallax Zoom!! - gamedev.net Project to celebrate!
I'm still looking for an Artist to collaborate on this Hobby / Portfolio project first game - so do let me know if you're interested.
