Python anyone?

I've been procrastinating at work more than usual in this last week before Christmas. There's been a whole bunch of distractions in both end-of-year shenanigans and so on, but admittedly I'm wasting time looking forward to the holiday week. I've got plans to get stuck into projects I've been putting off for ages.

One such project I was looking forward to was getting back into Flash development, but without my MacBook Pro that's not going to be possible. Instead I think I'll do something I've been meaning to do for ages - start learning Python. I haven't given Python enough of a go yet to do it justice, and I've seen it touted on the forums here as a good language for both beginners and programmers who just want to "get things done."

So I'm thinking of spending a day or so learning the ropes of Python, and maybe Pygame as well. I've made a thread to ask for recommendations about approaches to learning the language. I'm thinking I might attempt to make a game as a project, although I haven't a clue yet as to what would be a sensible target game to pick.

I'll see how far I get. I'm yet to budget up the time I have with what I'd like to do.
