PLAYISM and Kadokawa Corporation have announced the winners for the Pixel Game Maker MV Game Development Challenge, as judged by Koji Igarashi, God of War (2018)’s art director Rafael Grassetti, La-Mulana developer Takumi Naramura, and Cave Story creator Daisuke “Pixel” Amay.
Grand prize winner GAME BATTLE TYCOON, a fighting game with mini-games by RETSUZAN, won 1,000,000 JPY and will release on Nintendo Switch. Other winners include retro-style 2D platformer Timothy and the Tower of Mu and post-apocalyptic action-adventure game Z-termination, with each PGMMV-created title receiving a cash prize and a 2021 publishing offer from PLAYISM.
