help.....fast.....state of emergency
I had to register this free internet software called webcombo on my computer. Part of the agreement of using webcombo, is that everytime you go on internet explorer it will always start at their homepage,portal.webcombo.net. I have tried to change the homepage in internet options in the control panel, but it still starts at webcombo, i have tried to delete, rename, modify the settings in the registry for the start up page, and if you open explorer for the first time, it will go to a different page, but when you close it and open it again, it will go back to webcombo and for some mysterious reason, the registry will contain the original settings like you never touched it before. This is so damn annoying,if anyone knows how this is done or how it i can get rid of it, please respond. thank you
Um... well... if you agreed to it... why are you upset about it? That''s like getting upset about CDR''s not copying right when you''re trying to burn copies of your latest fave game.
Not that big of a deal, just hit the stop button and load what you want.

fel, my buddy, let me be a little more specific, i do not want this software, i did not want to agree with registering, this was done at work for my customers, not me. i just used my own computer to register the accounts. so do you have anything to say now?
So remove all traces of the program and reinstall windows.

Hey, there''s nothing wrong with copying to make backups! I like to make a backup of my CDs and then use the backup. That way, if the CD accidentally gets scratched, I''m not SOL.
Unfortunately, if my UT CD gets damaged, I''m going to have to send someone nasty letters until they send me a new copy

I just thought it was a little humourous that "sir HACKalot" has a legitimate reason for breaking the license agreement of a program hehe
I find this really laughable... If you agreed to be stuck, why are you complaining about it now? Suffer baby, suffer...
If you are that desparate format your hard drive and reinstall windows...

If your Win98 or later, try running msconfig and look for any program that will run at startup.
Maybe that software load something on the startup that keeps monitoring and protecting the registry of that part... just thought of it.
