fup, definitely... even reading non-technical books is a very good source of inspiration.

I can just picture a lot of practical people getting a bit annoyed with Wolfram:

- "So what now?"
- "You can do even more pretty pictures! Look, the patterns aren''t predictable..."

Applying this to an Artificial Life simulation would require a fair bit of work -- regardless of his book. You might be able to categorise the cellular rules you use, but I''m not sure what that will accomplish.

Sorry, I''m getting cynical in my old age.

I''m not quite clear what the (fundamental) difference is between Wolfram''s work with CA, and fractal maths.

Seems this is nothing new. Haven''t read the book yet though...
