The Virtues of POV Ray Tracing

Yeah, I checked the POV website, I am checking out some tutorials and I'm about to start learning. But I'm asking you, what is some of the cool stuff you can do with this program? The povray.org site's user gallery is down and I'm looking for some motivation. Do you have any links where I can see samples of work created with POV? do you recommend it (for a beginner)? why do you love/hate/ignore it? There''s plenty of stuff you can do with it. I just found that a good modeller for it is hard to find. Not that I''m much of an artist anyway...

It''s been a while since I''ve used povray, but this site has some cool stuff like include files and enhancements to the basic package.
