Hey all... I''m looking for profile views of vehicles and people for reference art. Do you know of any good websites that have good images I can use? (Mugshots might be good for faces, now that I think of it... and that would be in keeping with the theme of stealing... ) -------------------- Just waiting for the mothership...

I have no idea what exactly you are looking for, but www.goodbrush.com, www.justinkunz.com, www.katode.org/noguchi are good starting points for people-related stuff (not too sure about the profiles). And you can find the occasional gem on www.elfwood.com.

how about going on a few real life adventures with your digicam?
There are plenty of vehicles and people lying around town (atleast mine).
I suggest you get a camera, that way you can get a picture of something from any angle you please.
A MIRROR!

LOL! Yeah, that''s a great excuse! Erm... but don''t you find that it''s pretty difficult to get your standard front and side profile shots? I mean, they''re not always exactly in positions practical for your average mesh...

Good idea, but I''d have to go out and get one of those. I''m thinking that a scanner and a few textbooks might be a better deal, though. Although a digicam might be good for textures?

just remeber, ask ppl before taking their picture. if you dont, its very rude, and in this day and age if the person found out you used their picture in any art, they would sue you (and could possible win based on privacy acts).

most ppl are very understanding and would be a happy to pose for you if you ask politly. in fact, by asking you will even get better pictures because you will be able to get them at the angle you want. just try not to take too much time or making complicated poses for the ppl. friends you have are probably best for this, especially if you have a friends in a variety of shapes.

LOL
Indeed, but you get postures full of life
More seriously, playmates are very cool for nice simple postures (I am thinking soft porn here) and usually are very good looking (although my FineArts lecturer would tell me that this is boring subject)

A digital camera is absolutely fantastic for taking textures, and the fact that you can store so many pictures in quite high resolution is really useful. One of my mates has got one which stores around a 100 pics at 1024x768x16M. The more I think about it, the more I think I should get one

The problem about photograph is that they would only be reference material (like my porn suggestion above) : you would only use it to get an idea of how "real" things look like so that you can put that into your own creations; you would still have the need for skillZ to make it look good. (although I guess you already know that)
