I have noticed that recently, many discussions related to very interesting math have been closed. I enjoyed the factorial discussion although it did get off track. I was wonding though if a discussion just about math will be closed if I post it. If so let me know so I can go elsewhere...
Puzzler,

Thanks for raising the question. Perhaps I have been a bit quick to close some threads. My primary goal is to keep the forum focused on math/physics as they relate to games. Some of the posted questions have the appearance of being homework questions, and I feel fairly strongly that students need to work with their teachers and fellow-students to solve homework problems. I''m a proponent of actually understanding what you learn rather than understanding how to find the answer to a question. The forum FAQ describes my philosophy on homework further.

That said, you''ve opened my eyes a bit, . I will say that I will welcome new threads that are just explorations of concepts in pure math. After all, these discussions are brainstorming sessions of a sort. And brainstorming can lead to much better and innovative games in my opinion.

So, post away! But please do state the purpose of your post. Don''t merely ask, for example, "what''s a factorial?". Let us know that you''re interested in a brainstorming on a math subject that isn''t related to homework, and isn''t necessarily related to game development. I''ll keep it open!

Thankyou. I do disapprove of people posting homework questions, especially when they show us absolutely no work or even thought on the idea. I also do not appreciate it when people come here and ask for free soure code (I have better things to do).

Anyway, i just think the math discussion can get really fun and interesting so thanks again.
