How do you clear a DirectDraw Surface?

Just curious to know how do you clear a surface that you''ve just alocated? I mean, if you don''t clear the surface and just blit it, you''d get rubbish. Just curious to know how you clear that up. Thanks

You could get a pointer to the surface and clear it manually, or with memset. Or you would blit 0 to the surface, clearing it.

Just how exactly do you blt 0 to the surface? I''m new to DX. Very new. And which method would be more "painless" to implement? locking the surface or using the blt?

use blt with the DDBLTFX structure.
