Oddly I didnt have any problems with the whole ambush thing in JKII , but then again after getting the lightsaber I never used guns/gernades and such again except for fighting Galak. The instant death from missing jumps was kinda annoying but not to bad imho.

How about a type of progressive savegame? If the game continuosly saved its delta state, to reload, a player would simply have to "rewind" the game. It also would allow instant replays and even whole level replays.

The one catch would be the design and implementation of a continuous save mechanism that wouldn''t bog down the rest of the game.

I agree totally and I don''t know why someone hasn''t done this before. Save points could be designated as often as the designer wishes and they could happen in the background. A quick save feature would then complement this. I would use quick save much less often if I new the game was saving for me. If Dungeon Siege can stream levels to avoid load screens then surely someone can come up with a good autosave system.

I like to be able to save whenever I wish because sometimes I can''t play a game for a long time or I quit playing because something comes up. Quick saves are useful for these times.
