Hy! Could anyonedirect me to a site where i can find information about how the "Chrono Trigger" and "Chrono Cross" games engines work ? I would like to make a similar game, but i can''t quite get started... Anyway i observed that the Chrono Trigger ha a tile based engine, but it also has special rooms, wich are from side view, and gives the player a 3D effect. How was that done ? Also the Chrono Cross uses Semi 3D enviroment, but i don''t have a clue on how that was done ... I could use quite some help. Thanks ! "Find the path, follow the Master... well, chrono triggers psedo 3d was done by just making the map of where the character could walk 1 pixel thick, and the having a larger image in the background move at an according rate (i belive)

And chrono cross just had a large image split into smaller ones (for memory issues) and was sort of tile based, and used a depth engine like in ff7 - ff9

If you''ll notice, the "side" rooms use the exact same sprites as the rest of the game. It just limits the movements on the y axis that the players can move.
