Light maps in 3d studio max...
Hey. I know this is a rather basic question, but how exactly do you save and export light maps and the like in 3d studio max 3? I have numorous books on the topic, and have read a lot of forums, but havent been able to find anything. By lightmap I am specifically refering to rendering the shading of a polygon/object to a bitmap so that that bitmap can later be applied as a secondary texture to the same object thus providing pre-rendered lighting. I know that this is doable in 3d studio max, and Ive heard people talk about it, but Im not sure how to do it. From what I can gather, it apperently can somehow save the light maps to .ent and oct formats I believe. Although I could be wrong. What Im looking to do is render a lighting texture in 3d studio max that can then be applied to the same object outside of 3d studio max as a secondary texture to provide pre-rendered lighting and such. Any information on this at all would be helpful. Thanks in advance. Happy coding
~Bryan
