Can't initialize DirectInput 8 keyboard!

When I try the code from Game Tutorial #1, it comes up with the message that says: "Cannot initialize keyboard" or something like that. Is there some DLLs I need to download. I got the DX8 SDK for Dev-C++ from the Dev-C++ website, too. Thanks for the help! If thispost = 0 Then GoBack() Else Read() End If
