128mb download (9 hours on 56k).
Try here or here or here.

If you get charged for local phone calls (UK, etc), you could try ordering the DirectX SDK CD from Microsoft (includes everything), though I''m not sure if you need to pay for a full subscription or just the cost of shipping and handling to get it these days.
There''s this book out that has the Direct X 8.1 (or 8.0, i fogot which one), and it''s not 128 megs. If you want, I can tell you the book name.....i''ll just say it...."C++ Programming for the Absolute Beginner" by Andy Harris, Dirk Henkemans, and Mark Lee. It''s a good book. Goes over basic Win32 programming, Direct X programming, and a lot of C++ programming from beginner to intermeditate-semi-advanced.

Do you need the to dload both Dx7 and 8 to be able to prorgam both or is 8.1 just needed for both?
True hackers are intelligent, they have to be. Either they do really great in school because they have nothing better to do, or they don't do so well because school is terribly boring. And the ones who are bored aren't that way because they don't give a shit about learning anything. A true hacker wants to know everything. They're bored because schools teach the same dull things over and over and over, nothing new, nothing challenging.
you can use directx 8 and still program directx 7
Ok thx..
