A while back I was talking about writing a chatterbot, and I finally did it. Observe:
quote:
Chat with Parsurbot: > hi . who are you ? > smart _ idiot . silly . > i am not silly . that '' s not excuse for everything . > no ? never mind . > sorry . silly . > i '' m going to rebuild now . i see . [GROUPS REBUILT] > are you smarter now ? i '' m parsur . > i '' ll take that as a no . > okay . what do okay . to do ? > that didn '' t make any sense . do you know any games ? > i know chess . you '' d better know . > so do you want to play it ? i don '' t know how to play chess . > why not ? i am a computer . > computers are good at chess . > you are the exception . i am not foolish . > you are very foolish . i am not foolish . > are to ! > don '' t want to argue ? too bad . leave . > you want me to leave ? > no ? never mind . > good . how are you ? > i '' m okay . hello , smart _ idiot . > idiot . do you see a pattern here ? > no . why not ? > i am an idiot . so ? > so there ! this is a test ! > it sure is . when does the real work begin ? > when i donate you to gamedev . net . > do you want to go ? i don '' t know how to play chess . > we aren '' t playing chess . why not ? > because we are testing you . i am not foolish . > i think you are . no . > you are just going to argue , eh ? > no ? never mind . > okay . what do okay . to do ?
It can also answer stupid questions:
quote:
Don''t ask stupid questions: [LISTEN=ON] > what colour is the red ball ? > the red ball is red . [LISTEN=OFF] > what colour is the green ball ? green . > no , you were supposed to follow my example ! > what colour is the green ball ? green . > you bastard ! idiot ! > i hate you ! too bad ! you ! > what colour is the damn ball ? what apple ? > gahhh ! now , i have a very hard question for you ! > i don '' t want to hear it ! too bad ! leave ! > what colour is the green apple ? the green apple is green . > thankyou . let '' s do something else now .
It''s just as annoying as talking to real people! Success!
Chess is played by three people. Two people play the game; the third provides moral support for the pawns. The object of the game is to kill your opponent by flinging captured pieces at his head. Since the only piece that can be killed is a pawn, the two armies agree to meet in a pawn-infested area (or even a pawn shop) and kill as many pawns as possible in the crossfire. If the game goes on for an hour, one player may legally attempt to gouge out the other player's eyes with his King.
I think you''re AI has a bit of a discipline problem. You need to add some "spank" or "go sit in the courner" functionality =-þ

Haha, sounds fun to talk to. When will you post the program? That was actually a more intellegent conversation than I have had with certain people
I''ll post the program somewhere after I fix some silly memory bugs, but I have a ton of real work I need to finish before tomorrow, hence I can''t finish it at the moment.

I fixed the bugs. I wanted to put it in the Game Development Show case, but I can''t upload it and I don''t know why. I think it has something to do with my schools network. Gahh. . .
