I have read tons of articles and tutorials on Winsock and TCP/IP (even the Articles and Resources section of gamedev). They all seem to tell me different things and I am confused. Where did you learn to program online games? Do you know of any good tutorials that I can rely on? And KalvinB, if you read this, what did you use to program your game, Gang Wars? No, just joking, I''m in 1st semester programming, and I dont know ANY graphics even yet, and can only make those lil black windows in windows, its kinda sad, but I enjoy programming, whats the best to do to get REAL REAL REAL REAL good at programming, specifically game programming!

I used Direct3D, DirectSound, DirectInput and DirectPlay for GangWars. All DX7 with C++. There is a Multiplayer Game Programming book out there for DX8 but I''ve never read it. I used the included SDK examples to get an initial client/server running and then made everything up as I went.

The only Winsock I''ve used is with VisualBasic so that doesn''t really count as it was an OCX that did everything for me.
