the problem is...
that the monsters move around. I used exactly what you said for my static tiles, like walls and stuff, but it''s not the right way for my monsters. I was trying to see if the square bounding box around my player and all of the monsters colided, and if so, it disabled the player''s movement. But i wanted it to disable only the direction that would continue to be colliding with the monster. Thanks again,

ok well I''m guessing that your saying that your npc aren''t treated at tiles in your engine? then theres some collision alogs on this site for that...
if they are treated as tiles then just move the flags with them...
