Which WinSock ver to use?
Are there any stability/performance issues between the different windock versions which favour one over the other ? Should I always use ver 2?
one of the benefits of winsock2 is there are certain functions you can use in winxp and maybe win2k but they won't work in windows95. Those functions make data transfering easier to program and are usually more efficient.
Winsock1.1 is as basic as you can get, you have your regular nonblocking\blocking sockets and your async sockets. And it's compatible with all the windows95 up.
