Looks like I will be attending the GDC in March. I was wondering how many people from this group will be there and how I can possibly meet a few of you. Of course the Honorable Ferretface... er... uh... Ferretbrain? No... uh... anyway... that ferret guy will be quite the centerpiece at at least one of the conference sessions I will be attending. I am looking forward to that. Anyone else going to be going or participating? The AI based sessions I hope to attend are: * 204-AI Behavior Representation Techniques for Computer Games (Day 2 tutorial) * AI in Computer Games Roundtables and Interactive Discussion * AI in Strategy Games * Beyond Psychological Theory- Getting Data that Improves Games I also will be going to a number of the ones surrounding game design and general business related stuff. My partner (and fiance'') will be going primarily to those but will join me at some of the programming/design ones if the schedules permit. Don''t forget to attend the Fifth Annual AI Programmer''s Dinner, co-hosted by the Ferretman,
Neil Kirby and myself. Its always alot of fun and generates great AI discussions (check gameai.com
for pictures of previous dinners). Watch here for the announcement of date, time and venue.

Also, I will be moderating the AI in Adventure/RPG Games Roundtable, which should have lots
of NPC relative discussions.

GDC 2002 should be pretty good for AI.

That sounds fantastic! This is at GDC and not at the AI thing the following week? I would love to be a part of that if possible!

That sounds like something I want to be at as well. I don''t see it in my list of bookmarks... I will have to look through the list on the site again. Thanks for the info... hope to see you there!

Yes, the Fifth Annual AI Programmer''s Dinner will be held during GDC 2002 and
Steve, Neil and I are currently considering Saturday 3/23/2002 as our primary
candidate night and if that falls through (I doubt it) we are looking at Tuesday
3/19/2002. We started this tradition at the GDC held at Long Beach (4 years
ago) and have continued now for the 5th year.

The AI Programmer''s Dinner is an excellent opportunity to meet with and hang out
with AI programmers of computer games, and those interested in computer game
AI programming: for great conversation, outstanding AI discussions and dinner
(we have to pay for dinner ourselves - so bring cash - usually runs ~$30 a person).

We will post the official announcement in February.

Well, the lady and I wouldn''t fly out until mid-day on Sunday, so Sat night would be fine! Hope you don''t have any other good competition as far as happenin'', swingin'' good times that night!

Ah, I wish I could got to GDC. I think it would even be cool to do the volunteer thing, but even that would be a strecth for me as I have school, no place to stay, no money for a plane ticket there...

Is that the one currently titled "AI in Computer Games"? Also, how solid is that schedule of Thursday at 3:30? There are 2 other sessions at that time that I am interested in. "Preproduction", which my partner/fiance'' will be likely going to anyway so I don''t have to be there... and "RTS Game Balance". I would take the AI one over the other two, but am interested in finding out if the schedules that are listed are good or not.
