A dress-up competition game inspired by Dress to Impress, but with unique features:

  • Map & Design: A sleek blue-and-black color scheme with a distinct map layout.
  • Clothing: Layerable clothing options, completely original and not replicating Dress to Impress.
  • Themes: Unique dress-up themes like "Emo" or "Favorite Streamer," with a question mark button near the theme for explanations.
  • Avatar Customization: Players can adjust the size of their male or female avatars (height, weight, etc.), starting with two basic avatars similar to Dress to Impress.
  • Music: A custom soundtrack that players can mute if desired.
  • Timer: 8-minute dress-up rounds (instead of 5).
  • Hair & Makeup: Realistic, animated hair options alongside a "custom makeup" system and premade makeup options.
  • Testing: I’ll personally test every update to ensure everything runs smoothly, so you won't need to handle testing.

I’m not experienced with scripting or building, so I need help bringing this to life. If you’re interested and have time, I’d greatly appreciate your assistance. As of now, I’m looking for free help—I just can’t afford to pay upfront. However, if the game becomes popular, I’d gladly pay contributors with Robux.

To give you an idea of my struggles, I’ve spent two years trying to create games on Roblox but end up quitting most projects. Building is a challenge for me, and scripting often takes hours or requires asking ChatGPT for assistance. Developing a game as big as this by myself would likely take a year or more.

If you want to see my past attempts, feel free to check my Roblox profile (username: Zytrynx). You’ll find several failed games that showcase my learning curve with building.

If you’re passionate about game development and want to help make "Dress to Succeed" a reality, I’d love to collaborate!

(I'm also aware that this sounds like it was written entirely by AI. I wrote this and had ChatGPT summarize what I said so it'd make more sense)

Hey there,

Personally I am learning UE5 to produce games but I understand lua scripting is a far greater learning curve than unreal engine's C++ blueprints, as I have attempted to figure out roblox studio myself in the past.

My concern is, why do you intend to create an exact clone copy of an existing game? You could consider differentiating your idea or coming up with something entirely new that stands out, surely stuff you can develop yourself and play on roblox or alternatively on steam (through developing on UE5).

If you could kindly elaborate and explain how would be any different to dress to impress, gameplay-wise (not just clothing).

It's not gonna be like an exact copy of dress to impress.

It's meant to be inspired by dress to impress. Similar to how the build mode in Bloxburg was inspired by The Sims 4 build mode (according to the Bloxburg devs).

I'm planning to add elements like:

- More time to make an outfit. In dress to impress you typically have 5 minutes, and can spend (I think) 200 robux to add an extra 60 seconds to the outfit. In my game the default timer would be 10 minutes, and you can spend 200 robux to add 5 more minutes to the timer.

- Better VIP. In dress to impress you can spend 800 robux for permanent VIP, but you mainly only get extra clothes and a VIP badge. In my game you can spend 800 robux for VIP and get extra clothes, the ability to walk faster (without needing a gamepass), and the ability to equip extra items (without needing a gamepass)

- The default amount of items you can equip in my game would be 25, with the ability to buy a gamepass for 200 robux to get the ability to add double the amount of items (50 items in total)

- The in-game cash would be set up different. In dress to impress, the only way you can currently get in-game cash is if you either get a lot of votes, or pick it up, or do an obby or buy it with robux. In my game you'd be able to pick it up or buy it similarly to dress to impress, or if you get a lot of votes. But, you'd also be able to complete one quest per day to get extra money, like if you wear a specific dress for an outfit you get 100 cash

- The voting system wouldn't be based off of 5 stars as that voting system is just unfair. Instead I'd do something similar to Royale High where all of the models are put on the stage next to each other and you have to vote for the three that you think deserve to win
