Overview

So I've been busy during the past year and last year developing games because I love to develop games. My first project was to develop a game studio in order to build a game. I called it Game Lab. While some might think this is just dumb all I can say is that I had fun. The studio is equipped with various editors and an engine. Using Game Lab, I created a game on it called The Trail Hogs.

The Trail Hogs

This is a game about a bicycle adventurer called Frankus. He built a weird bike made of wood with bumpers. Upon building this bike other people bought bikes from him and, thus, the bicycle gang, The Trail Hogs was born. Others competed with The Trail Hogs and formed the rival bicycle gang, The Skidmarks, whom are called that because they leave skid marks on the road. The Skidmarks take over the city of Hog Haven and Frankus moves into action to take it back.

The game is long with many levels. You can't die in it and if you fall down a pit you'll end up in the sewers or in some other area. The game is all about exploration and there is no single path to take. In fact, the game is not linear at all! There is a hub world and you have to look for the bad guy. This can be overwhelming to some people but, luckily, there is a player's guide!

You can download and play this game on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/2359020/?beta=0

Or you can download it for your Android Phone from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BR4LRS52

In each case, it's $1. If that's too much for you I'm going to live stream the game play on YouTube. The game can be difficult, though, but the challenge is awesome! YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@FrankusTheNerd

Bluejay's Quest

No, this one was not programmed in Game Lab. This game is far more ancient. It is from like 15 years ago when I decided to create a large game (my first) using C++ and Allegro. For the entire summer I planned this game and I decided to actually code it. I didn't care how large it was I just wanted to have fun!

In Bluejay's Quest you play as a bird looking for some breakfast eggs. In the game you hop and fly but spend a lot of time flying. This is why I created the game in the first place. I wanted to create a game about a bird that flies and I event modeled the flying off of Yoshi. The game has many levels but is fast paced and could be beaten in an hour or so.

You can download the game on Steam as well: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2518910/Bluejays_Quest/

Yeah, it's $1 too. If it's too much then stay tuned for my live stream on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@FrankusTheNerd

Final Thoughts

I am actually planning a game, well, it's a sequel to The Trail Hogs but it will be a top-down view, kind of like Zelda. The difference is that it will be all platforming. This Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga but without the turn-based battle stuff. I'm already working on an editor for this game and I will code it in C++… well, maybe. I actually want to write a new language called Nerd. Anyways, stay tuned.

I am Frankus the Nerd and I love to program and ride my bike. To learn more about me see my work below:
