I'm working on a project for College and I was wondering if anyone had a broad overview of how you would implement a detection system using Unreal 4 or 5 and Blueprints. I know how to do a simple one, but I was hoping someone had some good tips to make it next-level. Thanks!
Best way to create an enemy detection system
You really need to explain what you mean by “enemy detection”, because it could be vastly different things, from a handful of very smart AI characters playing hide and seek in a FPS to probabilistic targeting of long-range guided missiles to coordination in a swarm of ants looking for prey.
What kind of game are you doing? What are the enemies? Who detects them, and for what purpose? What are the “realistic" constraints and the effectiveness and performance targets?
If it's a school project, at some point you'll need to explain it in any case; understanding and articulating what you are doing as soon as possible is going to help you.
