Wow!!! Report yourself and get into deeper shit!? Whats the wisdom in that?

I explained the reasoning. What didn't you understand?

Its in RED, so its more than obvious Kylotan is a Moderator.  I think Alberth was speaking generally

If it's more than obvious he's a moderator, than it should also be more than obvious that moderator's cannot remove attachments for people.  I would rather assume that Alberth missed the moderator tag than assume that he can't think logically.

Which is?

Potential breach of terms??

I stand by the fact that if you inadvertently post something you shouldn't ... the best thing is to (get admin help to) remove it ASAP.  Reporting yourself in addition to that will only land you in to deeper shit.  The literal YOU however (if you find yourself in that situation) are free to do whatever you want. Its your choice

[edit:           .....    ....       my bad]

It is not obvious that mods cannot remove attachments. What if a naughty member post an x-rated image and it is reported. How obvious (or odd) would it sound if a mod puts up a post, warning the member "that's a bad and unacceptable image you posted, not fit for this forums, but unfortunately we cannot remove it".  Now whether they really can or cannot is another thing. But most people would expect that mods would be able to edit bad posts which should also include removing bad attachments

can't help being grumpy...

Just need to let some steam out, so my head doesn't explode...

Oh dear, I am still an interesting topic of debate eh? I thought we were done a few weeks ago when someone jumped to the right conclusion, but apparently not.

Ok, let me clear this up then.

I made the comment "moderators should remove unwanted images" from the following, (perhaps unlogica)l reasoning:

- Users cannot be trusted with content of their posts, for various reason, some with good intentions and some with bad intentions.

- Some error may happen, as we are not that always that logical

- Someone must be able to fix it in that case. As the OP stated a user cannot do that (and following my first step, shouldn't)

- Therefore, the only logical option left is to warn a moderator, so he can do it.

At the time, I quite missed that the OP is also a moderator. I agree that it is obvious to see, however, I don't read that information. I read the topic title, the name of the author, and the post text, and sometimes the number of posts to verify my judgment after reading the post, and not much else. The main reason for that is that you guys are freaking awesome. I never needed a moderator, because you guys jump in way before things go too far.

Even if I would have seen it, I am not sure it's relevant. The site was (is) under construction, and glitches will pop up. It's a report of a more serious problem then, but my reasoning still holds, I think.

So there you have it. I made a comment in the general sense, as to me that's the only sane solution, and I missed the OP being a moderator. If people want to attach conclusions about my logical skills for that, that's ok, as I catch myself doing illogical things all the time :)

I actually have been in a situation where I accidentally disclosed information covered by a NDA as I had not realized initially that it was also covered by the agreement.  I quickly informed by employer of what happened, which in this case was a good thing, as the person I had told had already informed my employer that I had discussed it with them. My employer accepted it was a genuine accident and so nothing came of it. Had I tried to act like it never happened, I possibly would have lost my job.

YMMV.
