I'm no audiophile and I just prefer digital audio over fibre optic spdif as it's less bulky and easier hidden in corners of rooms and behind radiators.
It's hard to find long lengths of spdif though and it's easily broken... :(
...you don't have to worry about electronic interference in it at all though as it's completely driven by laser light, and not too expensive.
