I presently have a Aopen PA3010 16MB TNT2 videoboard and running Redhat 7.1. Last weekend I wanted to install the 2 NVidia RPM drivers. First, I find it kinf of fishy that one has to change the runlevel to console mode in case the installation fails ( as specified by NVidia in the installation manual ). Anyway, after rebooting, my monitor started to flicker and the system was endlessly rebooting. Is it a common behaviour with all NVidia based boards? Is there any particular Nvidia MX400 based videoboard that runs fine after installing these 2 RPM drivers? Is Kyro well Linux supported ? TIA for any opinion or advise.

I have a Nvida Geforce2 MX and had the same problem with RH. I read most of the troubleshooting forums at the RH site. What it boiled down to was there seemed to be a conflict with a compiler and the Nvida drivers. I am using Mandrake 8.1 at the moment and Nvida cards work fine. I did read on the RH forum someone with the exact problem you described, sorry I dont have the link

If you are the only one that can fix it, why are you complaining to me?

It is not a common error. I suspect that you installed the wrong RPMs. If you have updated your kernel should you use the source RPMs. Or perhaps was the wrong kernel sources used? Maybe do you have several kernels and the wrong one was used?

I know that you will get your system to works with the nvidia drivers.

I found the problem, thanks for your suggestions.
I had a clue of what was wrong when I followed SDB advise and ended on Redhat forum.
One reply to a post was talking about removing 2 lines from the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file and I told to myself:how does that guy knows that one is supposed to tweak that file ?
So I realised I had skipped one chapter of the manual after installinfg the right RPM drivers.
So, a few keystrokes with the vi editor and voila.
Everything works fine now, It''s nice to see the Nvidia logo at bootup.
