Honestly, I believe that apart from search everything else google does is just a bit crap...

My one counterargument would be gmail/inbox. It's still years ahead of all the other web-based email systems.

Meh, I would say it is 'functional' but it does things I dislike which Outlook could do.

Say you had emails which came from two lists A & B.
Sometimes emails come 'from' one and 'cc'd to another - I want a 'label' only applied to the 'from' list and ignoring the second.
Couldn't find a way to do it.
Tried for ages; nothing.
Asked the Pro-Google people at work; they tried, poked around, eventually they told me it was just 'better' and that I should 'get use to it'.

At that moment the final Google Spell failed (with most of the spell falling apart around 3 months after I started working on Android...)..
