I'm assembling a team [deleted by moderator]

Play Tester: The play-tester will not be payed royalties, but will be mentioned in-game, and be featured in the credits.

Seriously? You view one employee position as not even worthy of getting payed?? (Not to mention that game testing is one of the most important elements to ensure the quality of your game!)

You've not even assembled a team yet, but you're already heading towards a toxic team culture, especially given such phrases as, “Your ammount in royalties will be based on your performance in given tasks.” I'm telling you this as a student of leadership and organizational behavior.

You also make clear that you're not competent for the role of director. This is not an insult, but a simple observation. If you cannot program, you can't be a programmer. If you don't have a very good understanding of every position in game development and how everything comes together, you can't be a director. I know Tomonobu Itagaki is an expert in photography, art, game design, drama, programming, and so on. He needs to know all those things, so that he can give expert directions to his team. He needs to know art, so he can give his artists expert feedback on their design, and communicate with them clearly. In addition, he has a deep understanding of the emotions in his team and himself, and ensures a positive and resonant culture.

If you don't have the technical competencies, you're not fit for being director. If you don't have the emotional competencies, you're not fit for being director.

The forums are for discussion, and when I read how you wanna treat your game testers, I figured I might as well discuss it. tongue.png If you wanna find a team, the right place to post is the Classifieds section.

I'm sounding harsh, but some things have to be said. You're in way over your head. If you seriously want to become a successful director, study leadership, study art, study game design, study drama, study programming, and so on. Get experience working in some studios, maybe apply to some AAA studios, so that you get to understand the entire development process well. To become a director, you have to be willing to learn everything you need to be a director. Simply putting on a chef hat doesn't make you a chef. wink.png

You're in the wrong forum for recruiting. Try posting a classified instead.

Good luck!

Quick Edit: I agree with Nyaanyaa. You need to think carefully before commencing. I won't just repeat what's already posted though, so take note of what's been said before posting your ad!
Shutting this down. Team-building is not permitted in the discussion forums. Use the classifieds.
