Windows CE 6.0 source code?

I started my new day career today, and I will be working on embedded software. Because there is an NDA which I need to re read in detail, I won't get far into detail about it. Our project is involving Windows CE 6.0, because either my or the client company hasn't sought a need for an upgraded version. It's not significant for a vending machine, it just needs to work...

Now, I'm interested in downloading the source for myself to learn more about it on a development level. Since I wasn't hired as a full fledged dev, I probably won't get a lot of time to learn this on the job. Knowing how to code for WinCE will make my job a little smoother, especially since I'll be working with the full fledged devs (and that's ultimately what I want to be). Can the source to Windows CE still be downloaded? Or is it just Windows Embedded now? Any ideas? Thanks.

I don't know if or where you can get the source. But what was Windows CE is now Windows Embedded Compact, what's simply called Windows Embedded today is a line of embedded OSes based on desktop versions of Windows. Not much, but hopefully that at least starts you off in the right direction for what you're looking for.

Source code for WinCE 6 came with the SDK distribution. IIRC it was a zipped file you could open up and review, containing the stock kernel core. Device manufacturers would often need to customize parts of it to get it to work with their hardware.
