Collapsible AI

Hey guys, just listened to the new feature on gamasutra about Project Ego. Sounds, looks fantastic. Anyway, Peter Molyneux mentions collapsible AI a couple of times and refers to the engine running a "simulation" instead of real processing I suppose... Anyone familiar with collapsible AI and what this running a simulation versus realtime stuff is? AI is not my strong point but after listening to his seminar I would see it likely that graphics will probably more or less stabilize about 10 years down the road (like monitors'' colors and resolution basically have now) and yet we''ll still be a long way off from human-equivalent AI.

Is he talking about Level of Detail (LoD) AI? That is, AI that scales in complexity with the importance of the agents in question (usually in relation to the player). I haven''t read the article yet...

Probably me being dumb but I can''t find the article you''re talking about. Care to put the URL up so I can have a read.

Yeah, it''s actually about a 30 minute Real Player stream.
It''s really worthwhile if you have 1/2 an hour.
