Hello, i used to play a game that was extremely popular on facebook. Unfortunatly the company that owned it just pushed it to the side because they were not really interested in it. The coding wasn't getting updated and the game fell apart. Anyway when 2014 came around the game owners finally decided to lead the game to a close. Now the games been closed for months call me silly but im literally falling apart without it xD. Now i really want the game back but i don''t know if it's possible? Seing as most people on this forum are developers i hope someone knows the answer. Now here are my questions:

1.Can the game be bought back?

2. Is there any possible way our accounts could still be saveable? (as in would our items still be in our rooms etc)

3. What would've happend if the game stayed open without the coding being updated?

4. They were also saying adding items to the game were becoming a issue. why is that?

Btw the game was a virtual world.

Thank you all. smile.png

1.Can the game be bought back?

Possibly. The issue here is intellectual property rights. The developers probably had trademarks for their game and it would also be copyrighted, so while somebody else could develop an identical game, they wouldn't legally be allowed to publish it.

2. Is there any possible way our accounts could still be saveable? (as in would our items still be in our rooms etc)

Again, possibly. But only if the developers saved that data. If they deleted it, then it's gone for good.

3. What would've happend if the game stayed open without the coding being updated?

People would have lost interest and stopped playing most likely, which if the game requires data to be stored in servers, would eventually lead to a point where the server costs are greater than the income from the game.

4. They were also saying adding items to the game were becoming a issue. why is that?

If the original code lacks flexibility then it becomes very difficult to add new resources to the game. To do so would require rewriting the codebase. My guess is that the game was no longer generating enough revenue for the developers to invest in doing this, so they're instead focusing on other games that generate more money.

Thanks!

I guess the developers would've deleted the code and data if the game was pushed to the side.
