Another randome idea

So I have decided to stay with the Asian/Japanese idea, but it is no longer and MMO idea, nor does it employ several types of game play. What I have decided to do instead is to pit the player's character against Yokai (which is a catch-all word for demons, gods, spirits, monsters and ghosts). As things move forward there will be a story, but I wanted to try and get away from making things real and go back to making things fun!! I think that this idea will be much more fun. The player will have to interact with the game, make choices and decide what is best or what is right, but he will not have to strive to be an accurate portrayal.

In a lot of ways this will be sort of like Onimusha clamped together with Way of the Samurai, as it will feature the player's "swordsman" against the miscellaneous creatures. And the player might not always have to "fight" his enemy. He may have to solve a puzzle, negotiate or work with the "yokai".

While this game will not strive for accuracy and will be very magical, so to say, I do intend on using actual creatures from Japanese mythology like Jorogumo, the whore spider and Shuten-Doji, the Little Drunkard. Maybe even the sun goddess, Amaterasu.

So question: Does this have slightly better fun value? Would you play this game? Does this one sound like a more viable idea?

Thank you for reading this!! I look forward to hearing from you!!

I don't know what your previous idea was. I'm not seeing any gameplay mechanics here. All I see is the 'theme' of the game.

Without gameplay mechanics, it's hard to tell if a game will be 'fun' or not.

Not sure at all what kind of game this might be or what other idea you allude to, so I can't say I'd play it. Or if it would be fun. Or viable.

BUT... I do love the setting and theme. Maybe make the art style like a living, moving, Japanese painting? Mix snow, Mt. Fuji, bamboo shoots, and swords... viola! Awesome!

Have you read Kwaidan? A treasure-trove of game ideas!

But... you still ain't got no game here. Come up with some gameplay!

Indie games are what indie movies were in the early 90s -- half-baked, poorly executed wastes of time that will quickly fall out of fashion. Now go make Minecraft with wizards and watch the dozen or so remakes of Reservior Dogs.
